Company Profile

Glenn Horne began working in the electrical field as a young man when his valiant United States military service was completed during the Korean War.

After establishing the business and working for years to build a company that would merge his strong family values and unmatched dedication to a tireless work ethic, Glenn retired, passing the baton to his grandson, David Glenn.

David completed his initial college education with a degree in Automotive Industry Technology, but, having worked as an electrical helper/apprentice during his college summers, he decided to pursue a career in the electrical industry.

David brings not only a wealth of mechanical knowledge to our team, but also possesses what we think is an inherited aptitude for all things electrical.

In addition to our biological GHEC family, we have adopted each of our other electricians and apprentices into the family, all of whom are highly skilled and dedicated professionals.

We are proud to carry on the tradition that Glenn established, and we’re honored to serve our old and new customers with the same level of dedication and commitment to quality and service that those who know us have come to expect.

Tribute to Glenn Horne

Glenn Horne passed away at the age of 78 on Tuesday, August 17, 2010, of Amiodarone Pulmonary Toxicity (brought on by the drug Amiodarone that was prescribed for atrial fibrillation). We implore you to research this medication if you have a loved one who is being treated for any heart related condition before you allow them to become another of its victims.

Below is an excerpt of the tribute I (Sandy) shared at his memorial service and have published here in tribute. We hope it will give you a glimpse into the life of a man who is missed and remembered as not just founder of this company, but as a giver and doer who put feet to his Christian faith as a loving friend and father.

He never got too old to laugh or play with some of his favorite toys. He loved his talking “Bubbas,” and his stuffed gobbling turkeys, and was famous for lots of what we lovingly refer to as Glennisms. When we were little and went to him crying because of a scrape or bruise he always sympathetically said, “That will feel better when it quits hurting!” At restaurants, we knew that his order was going to be either hummingbird livers on rye or a peananarocious on a supergobsloscious depending upon his appetite.  He was a character, indeed!

He loved others and he loved his family, but there is One he loved most: Jesus Christ. More important to him than pulling out pictures and bragging about how cute we all are (or were) when talking to someone (and he talked to everyone) he’d more than likely pull out his business cards and tell them how they could get to know the love of his life, Jesus Christ.

In his last years, he spent his energy sharing his faith. After retirement, he designed new business cards that featured praying hands on the left and his name and address on the right, along with his favorite Bible verse: John 3:16. He always kept one ready to hand out to anyone he struck up a conversation with who needed encouragement or wanted to hear more about God’s love and amazing grace.

After his death, I picked up the Bible he read every day and I randomly opened it to a page with just one highlighted verse: Matthew 25:21, which says, "His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'"

We believe that Dad has entered into the joy of the Lord.  Our prayer is that we will faithfully follow his remarkable example by living life fully, laughing hard often, and loving both God and people extravagantly because that, we think, will best honor his beautiful legacy.
